The microscope has become a necessity in modern dentistry. This modern and innovative device is very often used for endodontic treatment or, in other words, for treating dental root canals.
Endodontic treatment is a complex process that requires carefulness and particularity and the microscope makes this treatment extremely easy. The dentist sees the accurately enlarged and illuminated image with the help of a microscope.
The advantages of endodontic microscopy are:
Expands opportunities. Using a microscope, a dentist can see what is not visible to the naked eye – the slightest cracks in the tooth and microscopic structures, the small dental root canal cavities.
Ensures precision. Endodontic treatment requires special precision, as infected and inflamed tissues must be carefully removed from the root canals of the tooth. Occasionally, additional dental canal can only be detected using a microscope – such channels sometimes occur in molar teeth. Thus, this method of treatment allows to remove the focal point of the infection, which could remain unnoticed without using a microscope.
Helps to correct errors. The microscope is extremely important for the repeated treatment of dental canals, because it can be used to remove inappropriate dental root fillings, correct the remaining deficiencies after primary endodontic treatment or remove foreign body.
Suitable for endodontic surgery. Sometimes the inflammation does not disappear even after the qualitative retreatment of the dental root canals. The microscope is then used for precise removal of inflammatory tissues and dental root.
